Storyline Translations was founded in Assago in 2016 by Marco Ferretti, with a clear thesis: that Milanâs content industries need translation agencies that understand the industries, not just the languages.
Marco Ferretti founded Storyline Translations in Assago after working for a decade as an editor and project manager in Italian publishing, and as a translator coordinator for a Milan film production company. What he observed in that decade was straightforward: the translation quality problem in both industries was not linguistic. It was domain. Good translators working on publishing content they did not understand. Good subtitlers producing technically correct text that read like subtitling, not like dialogue. The solution was not better translation. It was better assignment.
Assago is well-positioned for this. Located in Milanâs south-western metropolitan area, adjacent to the Milanofiori business district and a short distance from the media and production infrastructure of the city, the agency has direct access to the publishing houses, production companies, fashion brands, law firms, and digital marketing agencies that make up its client base.
Six disciplines: publishing and literary, film and TV, fashion and lifestyle, legal and corporate, marketing and digital, subtitling and transcription. Each with its own specialist translator pool. Each with its own assignment criteria. The language pair is always the second consideration.
“The translation problem in Milan was never linguistic. It was domain. We built the agency around fixing the right problem.”
A core team of senior specialists supplemented by a carefully vetted network of domain experts across Milan and northern Italy. Every translator assigned to a project has been reviewed by Marco personally.
