Subtitle translation and creation, video transcription, closed captions, accessibility compliance, and multilingual subtitle packages for streaming and broadcast.
Subtitling is a constrained translation form. The text must be accurate, but it must also be readable at the speed the viewer can process it while watching the image. Lines must be split correctly. Reading speed must be calculated per line. Dialogue must be condensed when necessary without losing meaning. Character count per line limits must be respected. These are technical constraints that literary translation does not have, and getting them wrong is immediately visible to viewers.
We produce subtitles to broadcast and streaming platform standards for Italian content going international and international content being localised for Italian audiences. Formats include SRT, VTT, TTML, and platform-specific formats for Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV+, and other streaming services. SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing) and closed captioning for accessibility compliance are also included in our workflow.
Transcription â converting audio or video content to text â is the foundation for both subtitling and translation. We transcribe in Italian and translate transcriptions into target languages for the full range of video content: documentary, interview, narrative, instructional, and corporate.
For streaming platforms and broadcasters with large content volumes, we provide project management and quality control across multiple episodes or content packages, ensuring consistency of terminology, character voice, and subtitle conventions throughout a series.
